Gentle moves in bed for stiff mornings

The first steps out of bed feel like someone else’s feet.

Hips, back, fingers. Stiff before the day starts.

Why mornings got harder

Joint and muscle pain are among the commonest symptoms around menopause.

Stiff fingers in the morning are common now.

Joints like movement more than rest. In trials, regular exercise eased knee pain.

Six moves, before standing

  1. On the back. Point and flex the feet, slowly.
  2. Knees bent. Rock them side to side.
  3. Hug both knees gently. Small circles.
  4. Arms overhead. Stretch long through the fingers and heels.
  5. Roll to one side. Rest a moment.
  6. Press up to sitting with the arms. Three breaths. Then stand, slowly.
